2005-2006 National Technology Assessment

National Technology Assessment

Based on a survey of over 8,000 U.S. school districts, QED’s new National Technology Assessment gives readers the inside scoop on hardware usage, infrastructure, technology funding, and planned technology spending. Of particular relevance is the reports’ comparison of technology spending in districts with schools not making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and those making AYP, as well as the comparison of technology spending in districts with English Language Learning (ELL) programs and those without.

  • Findings in the survey include:
47% of districts surveyed expect to mount a major technology initiative or upgrade effort focused on desktops, laptops and handhelds during the next 24 months.
  • Overall, 69% of districts are classified as making AYP, based on the fact that all schools within the district are making AYP.
  • Overall, 47% of districts have ELL programs based on the fact that at least one school in the district has an ELL program.

Using the data and findings in this report you’ll be able to make informed projections about your own business’s growth potential and product development initiatives. Additionally, the data compiled and analyzed in the National Technology Assessment is available for selection in QED’s database. Target any segment of districts covered, such as:

  • Major technology initiatives
  • Budget allocations
  • Hardware usage by installed base:
    • Windows vs. Macs
    • Server platform
    • Number of servers
